I’ve always been a fan of horror movies. The Gorier… The better!!! So when I first saw my first George A. Romero flick, easy to guess… I was in heaven. “They’re coming to get you Bar-ba-ra…” Yeah man, Night of the Living Dead!!! That line still echos in my mind. The original black and white version is still one of the creepiest flicks… Ever!!! Hell that man has never made a bad zombie movie. What Donnie Yen is to Kung Fu movies, George is to zombie movies. So why am I speaking of Mr. Romero? In this age of Emo-Vampires and weak re-makes the one thing that is fool-proof is zombies. Zombies have one function… Eating human flesh. More specifically… Brains. Of any kind. They are the HORDE!!!
If anything, recent movies like 28 Days Later and Zack Snyder’s remake of Dawn of the Dead have done something rarely done with franchises… Made them scarier!!! They’re pissed and the mutha’s can run… fast!!!
What you don’t do… Is make them talk and have emotions!!! That was even strange to write. While we all wait with bated breath for the premiere of The Walking Dead on AMC this weekend, I felt this was a good time to let you know how lucky you are. The following is the rejected pilot for a proposed zombie “drama” series for CBS. Entitled Babylon Fields ( Yes Long Island, NY that Babylon ), it starred Ray Stevenson, and Leila Arcieri as cops dealing with ramifications of the special needs zombies. I don’t like trashing original ideas, because Hollywood has so few of them now a days. But this is what you DO NOT do with zombies!!!
