We saw 23 and 1/2 Minutes of TRON LEGACY in 3D

The nice people at Disney were cool enough to invite Brother Jobu and I to TRON NIGHT 2010 in which we were treated to 23 and 1/2 minutes of TRON LEGACY in IMAX Disney Digital 3D.

Right off the bat I can tell you that this is a flick to SEE in a theater.  This is not some crappy post conversion 3D – it’s Avatar quality immersion.  Awesome eye candy (and I’m not even talking about Olivia Wilde). Everything POPS off the screen and the designs are new enough to elicit some “wow” without being so far removed from the original to lose the sense of nostalgia.  This is after all, a sequel to a Disney flick that was released over 20 years ago.

As for the story; Jeff Bridge’s son from the first movie is all grown up (was he even in the first movie?) and does not want to run the family business or some such nonsense. Who cares? He gets transported to THE GRID where he meets up with his Dad and all kinds of cool glowing stuff happens.  Light cycles, Light tanks, Frisbee wars. Call me crazy but this kind of movie doesn’t need to be King Lear. Looks like fun and we’ll be there when it opens for reals on December 17th.

We have a bunch of pretty cool TRON posters that they gave us.

Leave a comment telling us what your favorite arcade video game was back in the day and why and maybe we’ll send you one.

About calmixx

Calmixx is the Pseudonym of New York Artist/Writer Brian Mc- - HEY wait a minute. Why have a cool Pseudonym if you're just gonna tell people it's a Pseudonym? Yeah you can just call me Calmixx for now. Maybe if we have a third date I'll give up the last name but not without dinner. Check out my silly little blog and let me know what you think. Because I care. I really do. Really. Honest. Sorta.

  1. I’m very excited to see what they’ve done with ‘Tron’ and its, uh, legacy. It may not need to be ‘King Lear’, but it does need a strong narrative; and I hope the father-son relationship at the heart of the film is fresh enough to hook audiences well beyond the geek niche.
