Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment today announced that they have absolutley NO IDEA what to do to get more money out of the stone that is Batman and so they are mounting a Live Arena show to tour Europe in the Summer of 2011 and hopefully die a quick death before getting to suck here in the states in the summer of 2012.
Look; I don’t mean to be so negative, but this feels like a blatant cash grab for something that will most likely be a glorified Six Flags stunt show. Couple it with the fact that Marvel/Disney’s 60 Million dollar Spiderman musical opens up any minute here in NY and it just seems like the Brothers Warner (and possibly their sister Dot) are playing a sad little game of ME TOO with their most valuable property.
The only way a serious Bat Fan would want to see a live stage show of the Dark Knight would be if it centered around a certain Circus, and ended with a couple of trapeze artists denting the center ring. . . now THAT could be interesting performance art.
I have a feeling this is going to end up like a Disney Princesses on Ice show. But not as masculine.
