In the late 90’s a comic title emerged that set the industry a buzz. That title was Darkchylde. Never heard of it? That’s because it didn’t have 15 variant covers every issue, and the character didn’t show up in every other title in existence (A dark time for comics). This was a legit horror comic, beautifully illustrated by creator Randy Queen.
The story centers around Ariel Chylde, a young southern teen who’s nightmares emerge… Literally from deep within her psyche to unleash her most horrific impulses!!! The demons are brutally sadistic, which counter balance the teens sad and traumatic story.
Since it’s inception, the question has been asked… When will the movie be made? Fortunately, instead of just whoring the title out to the highest bidder and then getting left in development purgatory (A circumstance that plagues too many titles that should get made!!!) Randy and Sarah Queen held onto their creation rights, going so far as to begin testing with Weta Workshop ( The special effects gurus behind titles like District9, Lord of the Rings, King Kong, etc…) to make the film on their own. The test footage caught the attention of legendary Director John Carpenter, and now the title will be going into production with John at the helm. Get ready for another level of creepy… This is gonna be one Hellish combination!!!
