Monsters Inc. is arguably the quintessential perfect Pixar film.
It’s smart, funny, original and full of heart. It has an awesome villain, a fully realized universe and perfect voice cast. It doesn’t treat the audience like idiots and has the guts to actually be emotional without exploiting emotion.
It also has a pitch perfect self contained story that will only be diluted by the planned “prequel” that rumor has it will tell the story of how Mike and Sully became friends. Does anyone CARE how Mike and Sully became friends? I don’t mean to get all crazy on Disney/Pixar here but COME ON! Throw all the God Damned accountants out of your pitch meetings and make something NEW ! Mining your back catalog for sure fire money makers will only make them irrelevant in the future.
Hey – they’re only movies so do whatever you want to with them, but I’d rather see another 12 “horrendous” Cars movies than one minute of a “pretty good” Monsters Inc. prequel.
