Should we stop calling video games, video games? They are a multi-billion dollar a year industry, and are responsible for most of the leading tech trends. Hell, most gadgets value today is based on the bullet point of, whether or not it can support the most current gaming software.
Sure they are fun, and a great social tool (Everyone has “friends” they’ve met online gaming.), but this industry has grown leap years since the Super NES days. Unfortunately, most people think of gaming as a waste of time, or something as only a child should be partaking in. While others crucify the industry stating , it’s pornography or it’s promoting violence. Funny… I’ve never seen a video game fire an actual missile at a real country!!! And for the handful of nut jobs that have committed acts of violence on others blaming gaming… You were already FRAKKED in the head pal!!!! Now I know the detractors will say, “Oh yeah? Well what about the parents that just leave their kids in front of the T.V. and let them be influenced by the games babysitting them?” Answer: How’s that the games fault? They are bad parents!!! That really is another issue entirely, I digress.
I just wanted to bring this to your attention because ANYTHING that can generate 310 million dollars in a 24 hour span deserves our admiration… If not our attention. With more immersive environments, mind blowing graphics, and in many cases… Better storytelling than Hollywood. Expect those numbers to be crushed!!! Now if you’ll excuse me, I have zombies to kill, alien races to save, and cars to race.
